今天是一年一度的International DNA Day，它的成立旨在纪念1953年的4月25日，James Watson、Francis Crick 以及他们的同事们在Nature上发表的有关DNA结构研究的论文。

同样是4月25日， 2003年的这一天，来自全球多个国家的科学家们宣布人类基因组计划草图已接近完成。因此， 4月25日是一个值得纪念的日子！

DNA Day首先由美国参议院和众议院提出，自2003年起，每年都由国家人类基因组研究所（NHGRI）组织DNA Day的庆祝活动。后来渐渐地，这个传统被许多组织自发地传承了下来。
