在作者排行中,排在首位的为麻省理工学院怀特黑德生物医学研究所的Rudolf Jaenisch教授,自2008年以来他共发表了14篇热门论文,他主要从事表观遗传学方面的研究,在胚胎干细胞和iPS细胞研究领域取得多项进展。华人科学家东华大学何吉欢教授以10篇热门论文排在前10位,他提出了变分迭代算法以及一些新的非线性分析方法等。
 
另外上榜的还有英国曼彻斯特大学Andre K. Geim和他的同事Konstantin Novoselovud关于石墨烯的研究;麻省总医院Mark J. Daly在全基因组关联方面的研究;Broad研究所的创始人之一、著名遗传学家Eric S. Lander有关基因分析及肺癌和多发性硬化症的研究;俄亥俄州立大学Carlo M. Croce研究了微RNA在治疗结肠癌、白血病和其他恶性肿瘤中的作用;最后一位是日本大阪大学免疫学家Shizuo Akira,在先天免疫研究方面成果突出。
 
在热门论文排行中,物理科学领域的成果引人注目,其中威尔金森微波各向异性探测器发挥了很大作用。另外,宇宙射线和暗物质也是热门话题。
